The entries are quite nice, and much better then I could do (being
graphically challenged)...but, the Sun logo seems so intrusive! To the
new(er) users it might give the impression that OOo is a Sun product.
the rule was established just before 1.1.0 : whoever release the build has the right to mark it somehow.
so, a default splash screen is made without the Sun logo.
builds released by Sun contain the default splash screen with the Sun logo added. those builds are the ones available on OOo 'Download' page.
the splash screen authors who submitted images with Sun logo made this in an attempt to show the final result. if such an image is the winner, the author will be requested to provide a version without the Sun logo.
