If I have downloaded and copied into the new template, why would I import the templates from the same file I pasted into?
Sorry if I missed something obvious.
It often works better if you update the styles from the new template *first* before copying the document into the new template. I'm not entirely sure why that's true, but from my own experience I know it often is true.
Copying a doc into the new template might cause the styles in the old doc to overwrite the styles in the template doc. (I haven't done this recently, but I think that is what happens.) If that is so, you'd need to then get a clean copy of the template file and copy the styles from that into your new chapter, to make sure the new chapter has all the correct styles applied to everything.
