Garry,
Last time I looked at the example db design I had one or two quams about
the schema, but not such that I have a problem
staying faithful to the structure. I assume you want the whole thing
done with no macro code?
As for the quirks of Base, yearh I know. It really wasn;t till RC1 that
it was hiting on all
8, as one might say here in the US.
I can get it going. You can get the first example database I put out at
http://www.paintedfrogceramics.com/OpenOffice/ProjectContacts.zip
the db came out a thread on the OOOForun board -
http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=21697
and has get a few folks started I think.
This actual DB includes a library also I was just getting started with
OO.o, and
the db includes a library, so you have to follow the install steps in
the README file exactly.
A second example DB, is available via a link at,
http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=24480
this is very narrow and concise and only trying to show a very specific
technique.
I have another that I wanted to get up last night but RC2 and my machine
just were not ggetting along,
this one is really back to basics.
Additionnaly there are a number of threads on the OOOForum site where I
have used Base to go over creating
1 to many and 1 to 0,1 relationships. In these cases I supplied Base
specific DDL commands for the sample
tables. Not sure if there might be some value in pulling all of these
together and trying
to make something coherent out of it also.
Anyway - my writing is rather weak unfortunately.(I had rather lofty
goals for writing some a few months back, but that has proved folly)
I will put some text with the example db, and hope others take this text,
toss it and replace it with something more intelligible.
I'll let you know when I have the first cut.
Andrew
ps Have any of you folks here on the Authors board weighed in on the
whole Naughty word issue with the OO.o dictionaries. It would seem
like you, more then many, would have something to say about it.

I was wondering if anyone was actively working on the example
database that was outined on the board.
If not, I would be willing to put together a first pass, along with a
simple running commentatry of what I did along the way of making it.
Even a few screen shots of the process.
I did not want to duplicate any effort that is underway however.
Thanks
Andrew Jensen
You are very welcome to have a go but be aware that the reason there
is nobody working on it at present is that the Base componenet is
still not fully functional. If you subscribe to the dba-users mailing
list you will see what I mean. Please let me know via this list if you
get anything useful going and what you have managed to get done.
kind regards
Garry
