Reply from Chris:
Most of my flat file experience can be easily done with a spread sheet.
My top down or hierarical (sp?) database experience was with a Main
Frame database.
My experience with a relationalship d base was/is not.
I havenot found ( does not mean that there is not) an article that
explains the difference amongst the three. But most importantly when
would use such over another. I think that an explanation on that would
be welcomed.
However, my main comment was that you started, as I understood (may be
completely wrong, erroneous) that you were working on a tutorial for the
database as set up by OOo. Maybe a difference amongst all first would
be something to do or point to (links to other explanations, why
reinvent the wheel?).

Considering Chris' comment, did he/you mean relational or all
databases? Is OO Base the right thing to use for a flat file
format database? Does the tutorial come from the perspective
of relational / flat file / or independent of either?

I commend you on working on this tutorial. I have tried a number of
times on other data bases and never did succeed.
I would like to blame entirely the scarce documentation, but, I have
to admit that I did not understand some of the basic concepts of all
the components of a relational data base as implemented.
When you have this set up further I would certainly like to test it
from a poor sluggers view.

I have had the same feeling. I will grab your upload and see what I
can do with an appropriate re-write ASAP and put it back up.
Thanks - I know that this can be made much better with help from
folks like yourself.

I have reviewed the first part of the employee_tutorial file and
uploaded it to the feedback folder for User's how-to's.
I have one major problem with this file. I followed the directions
as I went along. Near the end, I was greeted with a heading: It does
not work. This is a show stopper. I like the instructions for the
most part, but I feel a re-write of this tutorial giving the steps
needed to create a good database would serve a new user much better.
That is what I would like to see.
