Hi all,
I'm trying to cleanup members on this list to help reduce spammers using
uploading files to their home directories. As part of this, I'm considering
removing all users who do not have the "Author" role. Does this seem
reasonable ?
Oops, I'm sorry for the confusion.
I did not mean to remove members from this mailing list, rather to remove
members from the oooauthors.org web site who have not requested the
"authors" role.
Recently many "members" joined the oooauthors.org website only to use the
members home folder to upload spam HTML to redirect hits to other sites - I
presume that this is they get pay-per-clicks or similar.
I have no intention of changing anything to do with
[email protected] mailing list.
I've made a change to the security permissions on the site such that it
should not be necessary to take this drastic a step. Now, content in
members' folders can only be viewed by users in the Author group (and
the member who created it). This should foil the spammers' schemes to
use the oooauthors site for redirects to other sites. The spam content
can now be cleaned up at leisure.
