1.4-p2 is merely a branch from the venerable automake-1.4 release with some 
oft-reported bugs fixed.  Right now, CVS HEAD is in feature freeze for an 
eventual 1.5 release, so you could use that.  Otherwise, I'd be happy to take 
a patch against 1.4-p2, and make a 1.4-p3 release to incorporate it -- 
Although I can read perl, I am not fluent, or I would do it myself...
