Cured inelegantly by cd lib make cd .. make But then the tests fail as this is the first time through on the perl 5.8 box, so, +exec: /usr/local/bin/autom4te: not found isn't too surprising: I'm pretty sure the sequence is make check then make install.. Next to figure out why that's there.. (The other box already had autoconf 2.53a installed => only tests 4 & 5 failed. After installing they passed..) Is the conclusion: I'm wrong and the sequence really is make install then make check? Cheers, Patrick
