Yes, I know it can't link to libguile. That's why I asked for the
contents of config.log so that we can try to figure out *why*. Details
are important.
That libguile didn't build a shared library is also troubling. Again, I
didn't have to do anything out of the ordinary for this to work so I
suspect something is amiss, maybe a missing package. The guile
testsuite can be run with "make check".
