It can be but not necessarily. It is essentially a replacement for Runnable 
with the addition that it can throw exceptions. So everywhere you could use 
runnable you should be able to use executable. So it can be both long running 
and for short call backs. However at this stage I am primarily interested in 
the long-running aspects.
