fellow hackers, various people have been hard at work to change the look-and-feel of the website to a better one.
The proposal for this is in jakarta-avalon/src/proposal/site. A Krysalis Centipede skin is available to generate our docs in this look and feel using cocoon; this is backwards compatible with the current setup. There is also an Anakia stylesheet so we can choose to migrate to that, or Maven, at any time if we would so choose. The new look is already used for POI, at jakarta.apache.org/POI (though it has a few slight slips to iron out over there).
