Perfection may not be neccessary in this area, either.

If Avalon Framework carries the ball as consistently and as far as 
possible in this regard, and acheives a level of trust in doing so, it 
is still 1000% better than straight OO to the normal development team, 
which has only straight OO to fall back on as an alternative. Big ball 
of mud a-coming down the pike.

So I guess the mantra would then be revised to
Do one thing. Do that thing as well as reasonably and consistently as 
possible.
