The provided ant.properties.sample in jakarta-avalon-excalibur dir required
xerces-1.4.4.jar and a devel version of xalan (neither was present in the

Some classes didn't compile...
"jakarta-avalon-excalibur\fortress\src\java\org\apache\avalon

seemed to be have been replaced by:
"jakarta-avalon-excalibur\fortress\src\java\org\apache\excalibur\fortress"
and :
"jakarta-avalon-excalibur\fortress\src\java\org\apache\exalibur\mpool"
solution ===> I had to manually delete
"jakarta-avalon-excalibur\fortress\src\java\org\apache\avalon "

3 - Suggestions

Would it be possible to include fortress build in the main excalibur ant
script ?
it's already in the "clean" target though :) and commented out in the doc
target.

Is it normal that excalibur-core.jar is empty (under all" subproject) ? )
