which doesn't make it less annoying =)

It'd be real nice if cocoon, on finding a link, would try and locate the
xml file for it, and if it can't find said xml file, would make a note
of this in the log and then would happily leave the link untouched.

That way, only when you get file not found errors will you wonder what
the problem is; and you'll be able to read about it in the log files.

As an aside, we really do need some docs on the cocoon site generation
in CVS (like a README.COCOON.txt inside jakarta-avalon/tools
mini-howto)...

err...if it is hard for non-cocooners to understand what the error
messages are about, that makes it harder to use =)
And if there are so many error messages you apparantly don't need to
worry about (like a 100 lines of ZipExceptions everytime you run), they
get in the way of the error messages which point you in the direction of
your mistake.

Last time I checked, the full cocoon distro had a 10 meg jar file, 3
books in the works, and a site full of architecture docs (I estimate
about a hundred pages when printed). Anakia has like a 300kb jar file
(of which 90% is general velocity) and I think about 5 pages of docs.
IOW: cocoon is a lot more powerful and complex. This naturally means
that for a simple task (generating a website from xml), it is more
difficult to use.

just the way it is :)

cheers,
