I'm definately using the version attribute in a lot of the content I'm 
working on.  Different version of specification relating to CORBA ORB, 
services, OMG applications.

I would prefer to see this maintained as a formal stuctural part of a 
service and depedency defintion because it is unlike an attribute. 
 Attributes can be used to suppliment and qualify a service defintion - 
but the defintion is itself fundamentally the combination of interface 
classname and version identifier.
