Seems like you're praising the opportunity for turf wars and conflict
here...

You haven't explained how you will deal with someone who starts off
being "compatible" but then becomes "non-compatible". Because, isn't
that precisely what has happened?

As I understand it, if agreeing with the vision of the project is a requirement
for voting rights, then it follows that the moment you do not agree with the
vision you lose the right to vote.

Basically, I think your approach of avoiding conflict by filtering out people
is doomed to fail. While I agree that we have had conflicts and that they
have been bad, as a whole, I think the solution is to learn to handle them
when they happen, and not to get into some thinking of the type "if I could
make sure everyone agreed with me from the start, then I'll never have
any conflicts".

A year ago I would never have dreamt that anyone in Avalon-land would
get so protective about their code, and that we'd be so split into factions,
that anyone would talk about "hostile attacks".

I believe I read somewhere that you should not attribute to malice what
can be explained by ignorance.
