FWIW, I personally like the option of embedding a JDBC compliant database in
an Avalon app so that it is always available. For example, ~50% of James
users use a database, but that leaves ~50% doing something else. I'd like
to know that even when they are using mbox or maildir for their mail stores,
that there is always a JDBC database available for James' own use.

That said, I don't care if it is Hypersonic, Axion, or ..., but I do think
that there is a value to Avalon making sure that there is one that is easily
installed.

For that matter, Avalon itself might want to consider using one internally.
One of the things I've considered is loading James configuration data from a
database. The A5 container could also look at that option as an suppliment
to the .XML files.
