Hi Steve --
Just wanted to let you know that the second phase of my merlin branch
has been completed successfully, and while the whole app isn't working
yet in the branch, the procedure seems fairly clear and the features I
need adequately stable.
Good news.
Me too.I'm merging the changes into my CVS HEAD and committing to merlin or some equivalent thereto for the forseeable future. This exposes me to the winds of avalon-dev, which is a bit chilling, but I'm going to cross my fingers and hope. If things really go to hell, I can always write my own container. I like the direction in which discussions on avalon-dev are going right now. The idea of orthogonal toolkits providing orthogonal features from which a container may be assembled has promise.
I've been playing around with this notion at the level of the avalon-sandboc/assembly package - basically attempting to figure out it it's reasonably possible to build a bigger container from a bootstrap container. So far all of signs are encouraging - the APIs in avalon-sandboc/assembly are sufficient to load and assemble components based on 100% programatic assembly - and the idea is that the notion of heirachical containment can be considered as a seperate notion from the root problem of lifestyle and lifecycle management.
Cheers, Steve.
Regards,
Gary
