I'm using xerces 2.1, excalibur/assembly/extensions/ directory contains
2.0.1 (haven't looked at the new one in scratch yet). My kernel.xml
file specifies the xerces 2.1 jar but apparently it's overridden by the
extensions jar.
Is there a reason why the xerces implementation can't be moved to 2.1?
I tried replacing the 2.0.1 implementation in extensions with the 2.1
jar and merlin seemed happy enough... and my code worked too!
