[Avifile]no benchmark utility for cvs?

Just wondering why there isn't a benchmark utility in the cvs dist
of avifile.   Compiling the "stable" version is exceedingly difficult
when using newer versions of sdl and it would be nice to see
what kind of differences are made performance wise in the 
cvs due to certain source changes.   Or perhaps i'm looking
in the wrong place.  Is there a benchmark utility for 0.6?
