Summary: 0.60.0 beta 4 doesn't compil

Initial Comment:
avifile version 0.60.0beta4 doesn't compil under
red-hat7
with gcc 2.96 or gcc 2.91.66

i have XFree 4.0.2
qt-2.2.4

with gcc 2.91.66: i can compil libaviplay.so but i
can't compil aviplay (the configure script doesn't find
qt even if i set --with-qt-dir --with-qt-include
--with-qt-lib correctly)

with gcc 2.96: i can't compil libaviplay.so: after
2hours the file libwin32.cpp is not compil (the
compiler take all my memory and lot of swap about
120Mb): bug with gcc?

This seems to be some sort of problem with the compiler
because if I change the Makefile to set "kgcc" and "kg++"
instead of gcc and cpp, then it will compile right away.
Altough, once I got it to compile with the older gcc I
had bunch of other problems... so maybe a more stable gcc
is the answer here or finding what the compiler doesn't
like in the code it's trying to compile.

I have the problem with libwin32.cpp on redhat 7.1/gcc-2.96-81.

Can someone please fix this? :)
Thanks
