I even did that on separate _fresh_ CVS checkout copy.

Yes, I'm trying to build rpm package (well, OK, I'll be maintainer,
anyway my divx4linux rpm package already is on download page :)

Eh, sorry, firewalled like hell here, but I'm already on the track.
It seems that Makefile in libmmxnow dir is not created with autogen.

Stay tuned, I'll post results ...
