        My thoughts on your idea:
- I'm dislike the idea of having a history of which videos I watch and
  for how long, (ahem, in principal only).  Please make it configurable and disabled 
by default.
- Last viewed position is a property of the player, having assosicated
  with .avifile it gross.  I think .aviplayrc is better
- Having one file per video is messy.  If there is some sort of
  resource to store this info, put it in one file.
