I think there is something wrong with your autotools setup -
so maybe you could just use  configure  script (which should
work without problems for CVS snapshost)

I think there is probably something wrong with date checking 
I've not realized before - 

maybe try to run make maintainer-clean
I'll try to fix this problem later
