Hi,

I've installed drip-0.8.0 and avifile-cvs of today because avifile-20011220
wouldn't install on my system.

Unfortunately drip can't use it (stop, crash).

The message at the end about getting a working avifile version in drip is
nice, but not really usefull. A user can not determine which is a "working"
avifile version, so it makes not much sense to display such a message.

Which version of avifile was used to create drip-0.8.0 ?

In case a cvs version is used, can you post the source of this version to
your webpage ?

Since I guess this is a problem of the state that avifile-0.6 is in (too many
versions, applications linking agains cvs versions etc....), I've posted also
to the avifile list.

I've tried drip, vcr, transcode and recently they are broken on my system. I've
been trying different avifile versions but never got all three of these
applications to run at the same time. Switching between avifile versions
whenever I want to use a particular application isn't a nice feature.
Perhaps build drip statically against avifile would be an option ?
I haven't tried it, but I guess this would solve some problems. Please
comment. If this would work, this should be the default untill avifile
reaches a final version. I know it's not nice, but if it works, it's all I
care about.

Regards,
Marcel Janssen
