One Option for using avifiles play/encode capabilities in a gtk environment is gmerlin (gmerlin.sf.net).I'd like to install avifile libs from cvs source. I haven't got Qt and KDE. I use Gnome. Can I make it? (./configure --disable-qt --disable-kde???)avifile is not dependand on Qt or KDE. aviplay requires Qt though.
It plays avis and can transcode any other supported format (mpeg, quicktime, VCD etc.) into avis.
It contains a "light" version of the avifile library with all the qt and SDL parts removed.
For developing gmerlins avifile plugins, the original aviplay sources are used as a reference, so it will never become a "replacement" for aviplay :-)
