Hi

I'm trying to transcode a dvd to a openDivX file using the transcode program. However
When
playing with the latest avifile player, I get this message

<AVI reader> : AVIMainHeader: MicroSecPerFrame=40000 MaxBytesPerSec=0
 PaddingGranularity=0  Flags=[ HAS_INDEX IS_INTERLEAVED ] TotalFrames=5873
 InitialFrames=0  Streams=2  SuggestedBufferSize=0 WxH=352x288
<AVI reader> : WARNING: unexpected AVI stream header size (64)
<AVI reader> : AVIStreamHeader: FccType=vids FccHandler=DIVX Flags=[ ]
 InitialFrames=0 Scale=10000 Rate=250000 Start=0 Length=5873
 SuggestedBufferSize=0 Quality=-1 SampleSize=0 Rect l,r,t,b=0,0,0,0
<AVI reader> : WARNING: unexpected AVI stream header size (64)
<AVI reader> : AVIStreamHeader: FccType=auds FccHandler=0x0 Flags=[ ]

What does the "WARNING: unexpected AVI stream header size (64)"
and should I worry ? Apparently avifile ignores this and
play the file well, though I do have problems with some
other transcode programs when converting from avi to mp4

The transcode paramters used are these

  $transcode -i /dev/dvd -T 3,-1 -x dvd  -y opendivx -w 800 -k -V -N 0x55 -d -b 96 -j
0,8
-r 2 -R 2 -c 000000-00500 -o music-opendivx.avi

The transcode guys'n gals currently can not identify the problem.

If I use the DivX4 encoder of transcode

  $ transcode -i /dev/dvd -T 3,-1 -x dvd  -y divx4 -w 800 -k -V -N 0x55 -d -b 96 -j
0,8 -r
2 -R 2 -c 000000-00500 -o music-divx4.avi

I get a much smaller file (40% of the opendivx encoded file), but when I play it,
I get playing window as seen on https://multicast.ebone.net/pmm/xv-divx4.gif
Here you see a lot a 8x8 pixels or larger squares which doesn't seem to fit
together.

Has anybody been using transcode with divx4 and avifile (aviplay) with success ?

I have installed the divx4linux-20011025 which appears to be more recent than
the DivX.com one
  - decore version 20011016
  - encore version 20010807

Kind regards
