The latest released snapshot version contains a bug for writing avis
(wrong virtual destructor) - so please check if the CVS version has
the same problem.

Check avirecompress - or maybe just aviplay - there is config dialog
which shows how to select various codecs options - but there is another problem
that some of them might not work properly.
