I've had this problem with all versions of avifile that support XviD and 
both XviD 20020412 and 20020404.  I'll be encoding happily, and then all 
of a sudden *POOF* floating point exception for no good reason I can 
tell.  The matrix is generated internally in the encoder, its not part 
of avifile at all.  I tried a lot of things to fix it, because I like 
XviD due to its relatively low CPU usage on encoding, but as I regularly 
use my computer to capture TV programs I'm not able to watch directly, I 
can't depend on XviD to not go *poof* and lose my show, so I settle for 
the slower divx4linux encoder.
