It's because your Xv driver is buggy in your XFree release.
I assume you are using some notebook (toshiba ??)

You can do the same with avifile - swith of YUV usage in config...

Try to upgrade to XFree4.2 (or to CVS version if 4.2 release still
doesn't work for you) - AFAIK these problems were fixed there...
