Definite 'maybe'. I do not think it is really necessary, since there is v4lctl. Borrowing code from avicap is not a good idea because of too many dependencies on various libs, eg. qt. If someone wants to do it, okay. But I would suggest to use code from xawtv, so it can use the settings in ~/.xawtv. My intention was to keep avirec small. BTW, I use a script for avirec.
