And so why don't you use Maximize if it works great for you ?
Fullscreen has different purpose.

The people with old boxes could select such screen mode where the 
movie will look like fullscreen because they will switch into such resolution.

If you could use maximize than use it - I'm almost never using 'F' fullscreen
myself...
(Also if you Radeon card doesn't support such resolution you
should probably remove them from XF86Config)

Yep there is number of great features I'd like to see in aviplay :)
Unfortunately there are just two hand which could that and
I prefer to add other things first at this moment.
