Summary: Total system crash

Initial Comment:
System Description:

ATI 128 All-In-Wonder, AMD 900mz, 128mb Ram
Mandrake 8.2, X 4.2 with hardware acceleration.
Package: All working versions of Avifile

Problem: This is the first time i've seen any program
actually force the system to reboot when it crashed (on
Linux anyway). When I run Aviplayer and play a divx
file, the system does it normally, however if you try
to move or resize the window, the program resists. If
you force it to move it does so sluggishly and then
will crash the system entireley, and it will then
reboot. If you leave it alone however there is still a
good chance this will happen.

Theories on the cause:

1) Memory leak?
2) Hardware acceleration problem?
3) Problem unique to ATI?
4) problem unique to this specific configuration?

If it's indeed 3 or 4, this could probably be fixed easily.

Any questions, don't hesitate to email me:

This is clearly bug of XFree server implementation
for ATI card - try to update to CVS version
of XFree or eventually consult your problem
with some XFree developer.

Avifile is also using SDL for it XFree output
so you might try to 'blame' SDL developers as well :)
bye
