Even better: You can do timeshift and view the beginning of the actual
recording. MediaPlayer: no way.
But, yes, Multimedia on Linux is a no-go :-D

avirec does it for me with "-d". Looks nice!
I posted my script on this list not so long ago.
I once tried deinterlace=1 in avicap, it did not really work, but I did not
test thoroughly. (What a lazy tester)
