Well there are two other mainstream player which do have a lot of developer and are most probably already usable on PPC64 (Xine, Mplayer) Avifile is using ffmpeg project for codecs thus the most code which is being used is already optimized. The rest of avifile code is most probably responsible for just few percent of CPU usage (well ok, color conversion and zooming aren't really fast :) - but if you have good video card with YUV support they are not necessary. > of those available for LinuxPPC and, perhaps most importantly, ensure > other developers and users have access to applications like Avifile if > they're running on PPC hardware. > > ask that you notify the contest team - an email to an address to be > provided later is all that is required. Well I affraid I don't have that much time to take a rol in such contest But if there is available machine where I can log on and from time to time check the usability and the machine would have all necessary packages - that might be helpful. -- .''`.
