Problems with avifile.pc causes recent transcodes to not find the header
files (I've only tried this with the most recent version, so no idea how
long this has been an issue).
First, the tar file was shipped with both avifile.pc.in and an avifile.pc.
Since the avifile.pc existed, a new one was not created, and it got
installed with bogus values. Might need to to make sure that some clean
target deletes said file.
Second, the avifile.pc.in is hardcoded to use @includedir@/avifile, but
header files get installed in @includedir@/avifile-0.7. So I propose the
following patch, that does pretty much the same thing that automake puts in
Makefile.in:
patch -p1 << \EOF
--- ./avifile-0.7-0.7.41.orig/avifile.pc.in 2003-02-19 09:51:55.000000000
-0800
+++ ./avifile-0.7-0.7.41/avifile.pc.in 2004-12-28 10:50:08.000000000 -0800
