Dne 13.3.2017 v 22:34 Cleber Rosa napsal(a):
Hi Avocado and Avocado-VT users,

I promised some data about the image sizes for Fedora 25 and JeOS 25,
with and without Python 2 and Avocado installed. Here they are:

Fedora 25 (- Python 2, - Avocado): 2189426688
Fedora 25 (+ Python 2, - Avocado): 2232418304 (+ ~41 MiB)
Fedora 25 (+ Python 2, + Avocado 46.0): 2240741376 (+ ~7 MiB)
Fedora 25 (+ Python 2, + Avocado 47.0): 2268659712 (+ ~26 MiB)[1]

JeOS 25 (-Python 2, - Avocado 47.0): 940703744
                                      200683476 (xz)
JeOS 25 (+Python 2, - Avocado 47.0): 985333760 (+ ~42 MiB)
                                      207663204 (xz, + ~6 MiB)
JeOS 25 (+Python 2, + Avocado 47.0): 1215102976 (+ ~219 MiB)
                                      262776456 (xz, + ~52 MiB)

A short summary of these experiments is that Python 2 and Avocado add
very little to the Fedora 25 installs (as proposed on PR #926)[2]. For
JeOS 25, Python 2 adds very little (~ 6% increase), but Avocado grows it
by ~30%.

With that in mind, the proposal for the JeOS 25 will include Python 2,
but will *not* include Avocado itself.
Nice report and I agree with your decision. In F25 Avocado will be useful (hopefully we'll start using it to stress the virt machines instead of the still used autotest) and for JeOS only the python 2.7, which is much needed even for the small set of tests supported with this image.

Next time I'm looking forward to charts and maybe even some fooled statistics to make the bigger image better/faster/sexier ;-)
Lukáš

Feedback is welcome!

[1] - While Avocado 47.0 has less requirements, I had to enable the
"updates-testing" repo, so it actually increased the size of the image.
Once the packages arrive on the main repo, there would probably be a
decrease in size.
