Yes, the short form is only there for users who manually type their
commandline on the shell, to save them some typing. ;-)  In other
cases (e.g. from a Makefile), it makes more sense to use the long
name as it is typically found in the Makefile already anyway (e.g.
since it's needed for the compiler's -mmcu option).
