-P usb uses a special Atmel protocol that lacks the RS-232
encapsulation, and thus it *only* applies to Atmel devices like the
AVRISPmkII or STK600.  These devices are searched on the USB
according to their VID/PID pair.

Devices which show up as regular RS-232 emulation cannot be handled
that way.
