Hi,
I've never observed such errors on the atmega2560, even when using more than
128KiB flash. The programmers that I used are the stk600, jtag2, avrisp2 and
avrdude version 5.11, 5.11svn.
There's a stk500v2-bootloader out somewhere. It's part of the arduino
project, if I remember correctly. Messy code, but it does work on the
avr2560 and programs larger than 64KiB.
By the way: What is mk3? What programmer do You use?
