I am trying to come up with the cheapest way to get a little bit of configuration data from a smart phone to an embedded device.
Has anyone experimented with using the phone display for sending information and a photo transistor or some other sensor for receiving? If the user places the device flat against the phone screen, ambient light could be kept at minimum.
