I'm not shure if this programmer is accessed via libusb or via a serial terminal.

Check, what /var/log/messages and lsusb says, when you connect the programmer.

Either the option is "-P usb" if it is accessed via libusb or
-P /dev/tty{ACMx or USBx}.

A totally uneducated guess, but it seems to me you're using a parallel
port and perhaps this is no longer supported in Ubuntu by default.
You'll need to search the web for help, if that is the case.
