I finally got around to fix all the outstanding malloc bugs which have been reported, which was really my personal "must go in" item for a new release. I'll have another look at the bugs and patches tonight or tomorrow, but otherwise, I'm ready for a release. If I'm not mistaken, we agreed to call the next release 1.7.0, any objections?
