Follow-up Comment #31, patch #9543 (project avr-libc):
Is it possible to cut the Gordian knot? This patch applies cleanly and works
perfectly - as far as I can tell from my testing. I see no reason why it's
necessary for it to be tangled up with these other long-standing issues. I
would imagine this patch could be applied, and a release made in a couple of
hours work.
