I spent some time making a bunch of changes to make it a bit more
flexible. If you feel any of these is plain wrong or bad, please tell.
well, this sounds all good to me.
Testing:
send me a patch and i can provide testing for OS X/gentoo linux with
ATmega 8, 16 & 32 with my homebrewn adapter, despite i doubt there are
any problems since you changed no core-code ;)
