Well, as erase memory _is_ already at 0xff, it should never
be needed to write 0xff bytes again.

Anyway, the root of this problem is now fixed with the recent
introduction of memory region tagging: only those memory regions where
actual content has been read for from a file are written to anymore.

You're welcome to try this new feature, but you'll have to use the SVN
trunk by now.
