Follow-up Comment #9:
This appears to be a problem when connecting the JTAGICE3 (with
the pre-EDBG firmware) through USB 1.1. Previously, this
didn't work at all, and there are probably also bugs in
AVRDUDE even for firmware versions where it appears to work.
