Follow-up Comment #2, bug #57153 (project avrdude):
You may be right there. I am using CrossPack-AVR-20131216 including Avrdude
version 6.0.1. Found no information whether it is 32 or 64 bit, might well be
32 bit.
Investigating the web i found a 6.3 version of this magnificent piece of
software. Still have to figure out how to install, but there is nothing
indicating conversion to 64bits. Leaves me wondering if it at all exists?
