Thanks for the response Fabrice. I sent an e-mail to Bartek straight
away, before I sent anything to this group. But I still haven't heard
anything. (no prob, I understand life gets busy)

I ended up solving my problem last night by switching to pv3d. I left
all of my code the same, except the Away3d references were swapped
with pv3d references. Magically, everything started working. I'm not
sure if it was a bug in the Away3d engine, or probably more likely, in
Bartek's library that he uses to make as3dmod work specifically with
Away3d.
