ps if using illustrator, to ensure your stroke is on the inside of the object (square etc), find the strokes pallete and make sure that it is set to stroke inside of object, not on centerline or outside, that way you get the correct stroke on the bitmap on export otherwise it might not be there or only half the width that you expect

It is surprisingly effective, and you get bit more control on the style of the border..
