I've managed to extrude vector information from a loaded swf using

and I've also managed to extrude the curves with the help of this

http://www.algorithmist.net/as3pc.html

which calculates points on a quadratic bezier

I'm sure you'll make a much better job of it, but if you want to take
a look at my code after I've tidied it up, you're more than welcome.
